My truth does not lead to true freedom

I once held the belief that truth was subjective, based on individual feelings and experiences. I believed that speaking one's truth was the path to freedom. However, I have come to realize that my truth is limited to my perspective and circumstances. It is therefore subject to change as my perspective or circumstances change. This means that the freedom I gain from speaking my truth is temporary and fleeting.

True freedom comes from God's unshakeable love. When I began to rely on this truth, I experienced a greater intimacy with God (of the Bible). The Holy Spirit gave me spiritual sight, which enabled me to see through the lies of the enemy and experience true freedom in my present and future circumstances.

I no longer rely on my feelings for freedom, but on the eternal truth of God's love for me. I believe this is the only true freedom that can stand the test of time.

All my life I have believed that the greatest help for my ambitions is self help. This belief was inspired by the expression " God helps those who help themselves" , because I thought the expression was a direct quote from the Bible. LIFE LESSON: I do not pray to move God

In our country whenever there is a disaster our government and church leaders will declare a specific day for prayer. These days of prayer are never declared when there is a reason for the country to celebrate, so this made me associate prayer with times of need. In other words I thought prayer is only necessary when I am in a crisis. I also had never personally experienced God answering any of my prayers as I wanted them or when I wanted them answered and I have also seen one too many people who have prayed to God for their loved ones to be healed but instead of healing they would die. So this was confusing because I have always believed that the purpose of prayer is to make God fulfil my wish list. LIFE LESSON: You don't live once, you have to consider eternity.

YOLO is an acronym for "you only live once". This is used along the same lines as the Latin carpe diem ('seize the day'), it is a call to live life to its fullest extent. YOLO is a belief system that says : life on earth is the only life there is and it is in our capability to live it to its full extent . This was my belief too but since I started this journey of faith I am learning that this belief might be misguided. Is life on earth the only life? The Gospel teaches that human beings are made of Body and Soul. The body is how we interact with other people and God’s creation while on earth, it is also the part of our humanity that dies and perishes.  Our souls on the other hand live to eternity. We get an opportunity to make the choice to be with God or without him in eternity while we are in our bodies on earth.
