Our battles are not with fellow human beings

Image
WHAT RELIGION TAUGHT ME? The biblical definition of an enemy is anyone who holds a different worldview to mine especially when they hold an opposing view to a Christian faith . WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYING ABOUT THIS? Ephesians 6:10 reads - For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. CONTEXT OF THE SCRIPTURE Paul encourages the Ephesians to stand firm against the schemes of the Devil they need to arm themselves with the armor of God because their battles are not with flesh and blood but with spiritual forces that have rebelled against God. WHAT DOES THIS SCRIPTURE TEACH ME As a Christian whenever I see another human being as my enemy I have already lost the battle because I am going to use the wrong weapons to fight my real enemy the Devil and using weapons aimed at fighting other human beings will not be effective with the Devil. Seeing is not believing

Image
WHAT RELIGION TAUGHT ME I have always used the expression " seeing is believing " in other words I must first see evidence and only then I will believe. I thought this applies to Biblical faith as well. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYING ABOUT THIS? Hebrew 11:1 Reads:  Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. CONTEXT OF THE SCRIPTURE:  The writer of the book of Hebrews explains biblical faith as as the confidence of our hope in what we have not yet seen. He also goes on to make examples a few examples in the chapters are this i.e. in chapter 7 he says Noah built an ark after he was warned about things he had not yet seen  WHAT DOES THIS SCRIPTURE TEACH ME Biblical faith means I must first believe what God says about me and then I will see Him personally acting in my life CONCLUSION Biblical faith is " believing is seeing" in other words to see the power of GOD I must first believe Him.

LIFE LESSON: Believe me is not the ultimate message of Christ

Image
My understanding of the gospel was that believing in God was what was expected from me as a Christian as it distinguishes me from an atheist or non believer. I thought belief in God is all the difference required whether one will make it to heaven or not. But the gospel says otherwise. SAVIOR GETS US TO HEAVEN God expects our belief in him to be accompanied by the acknowledgement of Jesus Christ as the Savior. When we acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Savior we then get direct access to God and it is also a pass to spend eternity with God. LORD BRINGS HEAVEN ON EARTH When we acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior it has implications on our eternal future but making him Lord has implications to our current lives. Making Jesus Lord means giving him permission to Lord over our lives here on the earth. Making Jesus Lord over our lives enables God to bring heaven on earth through us. Bringing heaven on earth means defeating Satan. Jesus demonstrated to us that to bring heaven on the earth require

LIFE LESSON: Good Bible knowledge is not a prerequisite to experience God's best.

Image
WHAT RELIGION TAUGHT ME I have always looked up to people who had good knowledge of the BIBLE and could quote bible scriptures because I believed the Bible knowledge is very important to please GOD and to experience his blessings. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYING ABOUT THIS? It is very important for me as a Christian to read the Bible consistently, to have good Bible knowledge. But as the Bible tells me in JAMES 1:23 -25  living out the message of the Bible will lead me to personally experience the Blessings of God In other words my Bible knowledge  will not lead me to experience GOD's blessings but living out the message will. CONCLUSION Living out the message of the Bible pleases God more than my Bible knowledge.

LIFE LESSON: I cannot earn the favor of God

Image
WHAT RELIGION TAUGHT ME I have always been under the impression that I have to perform certain religious rituals to earn the favor of GOD   WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYING ABOUT THIS? LUKE 1:45   - Tells us that have God's favour rests upon us we must just believe every word that comes from Him. In other words God' favour cannot be earned but we can have it if  we believe all his promises about our lives. CONCLUSION To have God's favour rest on me I must believe all His promises about my life I don't have to perform any religious rituals

LIFE LESSON: GOD does not help those who help themselves

Image
The phrase “God helps those who help themselves” is very popular. It is so popular that I thought it is a scripture from the bible but it turns out it is not in the bible. This phrase implies that God only intervenes in our situations after we have taken the initiative to save ourselves. This phrase is not only unbiblical it is also not painting an accurate picture of God as revealed in the bible. God does not wait for us to initiate a solution to our problems before he intervenes in our situation. Here is why GOD’S PLAN God created us in his image to represent him in the world so that through us he can: Put his glory on display Have control over his creation. The specific individual details on how God  plans to achieve this through us are only revealed when we first acknowledge Jesus Christ and then submit daily to his authority. What this means is that our lives should be about aligning ourselves with God’s plans and not about aligning God with our plans. TROUBLE IN OUR LIVES God wan

LIFE LESSON: Prioritizing self preservation is not the will of God for us

Image
I used the phrase “Every man for himself and God for us all” to justify prioritizing my own desires over everybody else. This seems right, after all society tells us we are the most important person in our lives and self preservation should take priority over others. If self preservation ahead of everyone else was the will of God then on the day of our salvation God would have erupted us to heaven, but that did not happen. This is because God still has a reason to keep us here.  WHY WE WERE NOT ERUPTED ON THE DAY OF SALVATION The resurrection of Jesus Christ is an indication that the enemy of God has been defeated. This is the reality God wants to bring to the world through those who have accepted his invite for salvation. God’s plan is to bring this spiritual reality to the natural world using his children so that through them he can showcase his love and power and make an impact in the world so that many more could accept his invitation for salvation. MAKING AN IMPACT IN THE WORLD  I
