Faith not rituals will lead me to the promised land

Image
Lent is a forty-day religous observance that commences on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Holy Thursday. It is a time of prayer, fasting, and giving, designed to prepare for the commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ at Easter. This and many other religious observances are taken with the utmost seriousness within the denominational church in which I was raised. Despite the gravity with which these rituals were upheld within my church and family, I myself never accorded them the same level of importance. This was primarily due to the fact that I did not see any meaningful transformation in the lives of those around me who actively participated in them. As a result, I never felt sufficiently motivated to partake in them myself. Moreover, I did not have enough  knowledge regarding their significance in my life, and I did not have the motivation to seek further clarification. However, when I embarked on my new journey within the Kingdom of God, I resolved to conduct thorough rese

Success alone does not define true visionary

Image
Recently while watching a documentary, I was compelled to reevaluate my stance on people deemed visionaries, after a famous actor was labeled a visionary because he had achieved tremendous success in a movie that became a phenomenon. I have always admired trailblazers from all walks of life but my faith journey is now teaching me that material success alone does not define a true visionary. Visionaries are often credited with strong, original ideas for improving the future and they are identified in most cases through material success. However, my newfound understanding of the Kingdom of God reveals that true vision is a confirmation of God's declarations over one's life, reaffirming His protection and care. It serves as a guide toward genuine contentment, aligning one's path with His purpose. This led me to a conclusion that the source of human visions lies in spiritual beings. These beings mission is to shift human focus from the seen realm to the unseen realm, to manifes

Divine vision leads me to true destiny

A well-known biblical passage states, "Without a vision, my people perish." Initially, I interpreted this verse as a warning about the dangers of neglecting future planning. However, since accepting the invitation to join the Kingdom of God, I've realized its true meaning pertains to the consequences of planning for the future without divine guidance. In the Kingdom of God, a vision is a divine revelation from God that grants an extraordinary perspective into His divine plan for our lives. The Kingdom of God serves to fulfill God's agenda on Earth, and by accepting the invitation, I've consented to align myself with His purpose. This divine plan for my life aligns me with God's agenda on Earth, but it's beyond the reach of my natural senses. To discern God's voice and receive His guidance, I must undergo a spiritual transformation. This transformation is activated through obedience to His commandments, even when they challenge my understanding. As I co

The Bible is a book of revelation not interpretation

Throughout my journey of life, my relationship with the Bible has been marked by skepticism. Before my spiritual awakening, I held the belief that the Bible was a tool used for Africa's colonization. As an African, this perception hindered my ability to view it as a credible source. Even after embarking on my faith journey, my doubts persisted due to instances where fellow Christians would quote Scriptures out of context to validate their perspectives, particularly when my actions did not align with their expectations. To me, the Bible seemed open to various interpretations and susceptible to being misinterpreted. The potential for its misuse for personal gain made it difficult for me to fully trust its contents. However, I have come to realize that the Bible is not a book that can be interpreted or misinterpreted at will; rather, it is a book of divine revelations.  Upon accepting the invitation to join God's Kingdom, I received His Spirit, granting me access to His mind. The unseen is the source of true power

Image
When a friend recently shared a meme in a WhatsAPP group where a Chinese man and an American man use logic to find a way to cross between 2 hills and an African kneels down to pray instead and he still fails to find a way. It brought back to me a question I have always thought about but never really attempted to find answers to: why people, especially Africans, seemed to be vulnerable to teachings about things that are not visible to the naked eye. I blamed the victims in these instances because I considered myself too sophisticated to fall for these teachings. As I embark on a journey of faith in an invisible being, I have come to realize that throughout history, African culture has steeped us in a deep appreciation for unseen forces, both benevolent and malevolent. This immersion has attuned our perception to the presence of a higher power beyond the tangible realm. While this sensitivity has made us receptive to learning about the unseen realm, it has also made us vulnerable to misc

Church must align with the enduring timeless values

Image
Years ago, a well known person created a commotion by leaving a church in the middle of a service  in response to a sermon opposing same-sex unions. As a gay man, this individual took to social media to express his disapproval, igniting a public debate. One side supported the individual's actions, arguing that the church should embrace modern popular cultural norms. The other side defended the church's commitment to biblical teachings and condemned the individual's behavior. Fueled by emotions rather than a deep understanding of the Bible's significance and the church's role in my life, I passionately expressed my opinions. I aligned with those supporting the individual, believing the church needed to modernize its stance.  However, my perspective has since evolved. I now recognize the Bible as an exceptional book that reveals the Kingdom of God, providing guidance on God's plan for humanity and my responsibilities within it. It confirms the timeless teachings o

My desires are the foundation for misalignment

After being found guilty in the wake of a scandalous sports cheating controversy, a notable athlete attributed his actions to the influence of the devil. While many have dismissed this assertion as a disingenuous attempt to evade personal responsibility, it does raise a thought-provoking question regarding the true nature of one's adversaries. In my walk in the Kingdom of God, I have come to the understanding that the most formidable threat to my divinely ordained purpose does not reside in some distant, ethereal realm, but rather within myself. It lies in the potent desires that reside deep within the chambers of my heart. These desires persistently wage war against the guidance of the Holy Spirit, relentlessly battling against His divine direction. Fueled by spiritual blindness, they cause me to fixate my attention solely on the visible, temporal world, thereby hindering the growth of my faith and trust in Christ. Such desires manifest as an insatiable craving for miraculous inte

I am not naturally inclined to be the image of God

Image
Long before I started my journey of faith I've always held the belief that I am created in the image of God. However, my walk in the Kingdom of God has revealed a profound truth that goes beyond this belief. Being an image of God is not an innate or automatic state; rather, it is a posture that requires conscious effort and spiritual cultivation. To truly embody the image of God means being a tangible representation of His divine nature and attributes. Throughout history, only one human has ever fully achieved this—our Lord Jesus Christ. By accepting His invitation into the Kingdom of God, I was given the opportunity to activate my capacity to regenerate and reflect God's image. It is a path that requires being right with God, living a lifestyle of gratitude for the gift of salvation, and a deep commitment to spiritual growth. Contrary to my previous understanding, being an image of God is not a default setting or something that can be achieved solely through my own strength. I

A relationship contributes more to my success than rituals do.

Recently I attended a funeral at the denominational church where I grew up. For the first time, I noticed the richness of its rituals, which rendered the funeral beautiful and dignified. Initially, doubts about my decision to leave the church surfaced. I felt a pang of sadness for what I was missing. However, upon reflection, I remembered that the invitation into the Kingdom of God promises a profound, light, and easy relationship. When I was still in the denominational church, I was captivated by religious rituals, perceiving them as wisdom. In reality, they held no power against my sinful inclinations and failed to make me honor God. These rituals perpetuated favoritism, prejudice, and snobbery, causing me to look down on other religious practices outside my church. While these rituals encouraged me to listen to God's Word, they did not motivate me to actively obey it. This  prevented me from delving deeper into the Kingdom's knowledge and keeping me fixated on its elementary
