Church must align with the enduring timeless values
Years ago, a well known person created a commotion by leaving a church in the middle of a service in response to a sermon opposing same-sex unions. As a gay man, this individual took to social media to express his disapproval, igniting a public debate. One side supported the individual's actions, arguing that the church should embrace modern popular cultural norms. The other side defended the church's commitment to biblical teachings and condemned the individual's behavior.
Fueled by emotions rather than a deep understanding of the Bible's significance and the church's role in my life, I passionately expressed my opinions. I aligned with those supporting the individual, believing the church needed to modernize its stance.
However, my perspective has since evolved. I now recognize the Bible as an exceptional book that reveals the Kingdom of God, providing guidance on God's plan for humanity and my responsibilities within it. It confirms the timeless teachings of the Holy Spirit, which transcend human comprehension and sensory perceptions.
Modern culture is rooted in the temporal, sensory realm, heavily influenced by senses and emotions. For the church to remain effective, it must align with the Bible, a bridge between the temporal and eternal realms instead of the popular culture .Embracing this alignment requires a commitment to the expansion of the Kingdom of God which requires embarking on a continuous a lifetime journey of transformation through the timeless values revealed in the Bible.
