Imbalance is the way to true destiny

Image
LIFE LESSON: The journey to true destiny begins when the balancing scales of life tip too heavily towards the intangible realm of spirituality, rather than the tangible and practical aspects of life. When I started my journey of faith, some in my social circles accused me of being too spiritual, urging me to seek a balance between spirituality and worldly concerns. This view persisted even when I sought guidance from experienced fellow travelers on my faith journey, leaving me discouraged and questioning my path.Despite all my efforts I found balancing the spiritual and natural realms inherently incompatible. However, I later discovered a profound truth that shifted my perspective. Rather than being an obstacle, being excessively spiritual is precisely the imbalance required for alignment with the God of the Bible. Pursuing a balance between my natural and spiritual realities hinders my progress toward God's plans. True closeness to God demands the replacement of selfish desires ro...

The unseen propels innovation and logic

Image
A meme about a Chinese man and an American man using logic to find a way to cross between 2 hills and an African kneeling down to pray instead and he still fails to find a way,  paints a picture that seems to suggest that the continent of Africa is not developing at the same rate as the other continents because Africans seem to rely more on prayer instead of innovative thinking and logic.  Prior to commencing my spiritual journey, I would have concurred with this notion. However, my faith exploration has revealed numerous flaws in this portrayal. Reliance on prayer is a belief only prevalent in Africa The meme mistakenly suggests that relying on prayer is exclusively an African phenomenon. Contrary to this misconception, it is a global recognition of a higher power influencing the tangible realm. In Western nations, this recognition is evident in the growing popularity of New Age beliefs, which often draw inspiration from Eastern religious traditions. In some instances, New Ag...

The unseen is the source of true power

Image
When a friend recently shared a meme in a WhatsAPP group where a Chinese man and an American man use logic to find a way to cross between 2 hills and an African kneels down to pray instead and he still fails to find a way. It brought back to me a question I have always thought about but never really attempted to find answers to: why people, especially Africans, seemed to be vulnerable to teachings about things that are not visible to the naked eye. I blamed the victims in these instances because I considered myself too sophisticated to fall for these teachings. As I embark on a journey of faith in an invisible being, I have come to realize that throughout history, African culture has steeped us in a deep appreciation for unseen forces, both benevolent and malevolent. This immersion has attuned our perception to the presence of a higher power beyond the tangible realm. While this sensitivity has made us receptive to learning about the unseen realm, it has also made us vulnerable to misc...

Knowledge trumps sensuality

Image
I used to say "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual" to explain why I left my denominational church religous teachings. I thought I was my own god and could access the spiritual realm on my own. But the truth is, the spiritual realm is invisible and can't be perceived with human senses. My human senses are spiritually blind, therefore believing I'm my own god is the blind leading the blind. When I rely on my human senses to perceive the spiritual realm, I won't get to true knowledge of truth. Instead I open myself up to being influenced spiritual domains that want to deceive me. They offer me the good life on earth, but they lead me astray in the spiritual realm. I unknowingly fulfill their agendas, which they don't make known upfront. That's why I chose the Kingdom of God as my gateway into the spiritual realm. The Kingdom of God's agenda is clear: to guarantee that I spend eternity with the Creator and to influence others towards the Kingdom by m...

I found true spiritual enlightenment in the Kingdom

Image
The concept of spiritual enlightenment has become synonymous with self-realization and the ability to perceive the false self and the layers of social conditioning that obscure the authentic self. This concept of spiritual enlightenment was more appealing to me than the Bible teachings from my denominational church, because I could immediately apply it to my life, in contrast to the teachings from the church. Even after exploring this concept of spiritual enlightenment by reading various books and viewing videos of popular gurus who claimed to be enlightened, I did not reach a stage of self-realization. In fact, I felt like I was not making any progress because I was not becoming spiritually enlightened. I was more confused about my authentic self than when I began this journey. It was only after I accepted the invitation into the Kingdom of God that I felt like I was moving toward my authentic self. I did not know it at the time, but I now realize that the invitation into the Kingdom o...

I do not seek to be spiritual outside the Kingdom

Image
The phrase "I am spiritual, not religious" is often used to describe a worldview that does not regard organized religion as the sole or most valuable means of furthering spiritual growth. I adopted this phrase when I found that I could not reconcile my denominational church beliefs with my everyday life. I adopted this phrase out of frustration with religion and to disassociate myself with anything related to what I had been taught through religion, including the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. However, as I have continued on my journey in the Kingdom of God, I have come to learn that it is in fact the will of the Creator that I become spiritual and not religious. In the Bible, being spiritual means living life on earth according to the standards of the Creator. However, these standards are impossible for humans to attain on their own. The Ten Commandments were given to demonstrate that it is humanly impossible to live according to the Creator's standards, withou...

Salvation enabled my spiritual awakening

Image
I was raised a Christian but as I grew up I thought Christianity had a narrow lens through which to interpret humanity's relationship to the great spiritual experience , and this is the reason I dabbled in New Age beliefs where I was taught practices like meditation and being one with nature to help my spiritual awakening. Spiritual Awakening is a call to higher consciousness and deeper mental awareness. The process of spiritual awakening brings about personal transformation and a shift in one’s worldview. When someone goes through a spiritual awakening they experience a shift in their mental framework. When I started applying my Christian faith through a relationship with the Creator rather than religion I then learnt that contrary to my previous beliefs there was no need for me to dabble into New Age beliefs and practices because when Christianity is applied as prescribed by the Scriptures it leads to spiritual awakening. Salvation brings spiritual enlightenment When I decided to...

LIFE LESSON: The unseen is more important than the seen

Image
There is a narrative that states when Christianity was introduced in Africa it was used to rob the inhabitants of their land and the consequences of these actions are the atrocities that have been implemented against African people for generations. I do not know with certainty whether this is factual or not but it was a bitter pill to swallow for me as I was growing up and I also think it is also partly the reason I did not fully commit to my Christian faith earlier on in life. Looking at all the evidence of atrocities in the continent it was fair to conclude that God did not really care about people on the African continent,if he cared he would not have allowed such atrocities to happen in his name. Unseen realm In this narrative the introduction of Christianity on the continent had a negative impact but in the unseen realm where God exists and operates, the introduction of Christianity has brought with it new knowledge about exploring the spiritual realm. Knowledge that did not exist...

LIFE LESSON: Christianity is a journey not a destination

Image
To endure my journey I need to focus on things that keep me in it even when the benefits are not visible to the naked eye. I have recently started running, this has been an on and off journey for me, but this time my perspective on it is completely different from any other instance I started this journey. In the past when I started running my perspective had been that running will help me lose weight and/or keep me fit, even though I am enjoying the benefits of losing weight and being fit my perspective on running has completely changed since I noticed the parallels between running and my spiritual journey. The benefits of running are not immediately visible it is easy for me to get discouraged, so there are three areas of focus I concentrate on when I am on the road to help me endure the run. Breath - I breathe differently when I am warming up than when I am in full running mode, I also breathe differently when I run uphill than when I run downhill. Incorrect breathing makes me r...

LIFE LESSON: The spiritual battle is not about finding a healthy balance.

Image
When I first started my journey of faith in Christ I was excited because of the new way I was seeing God but I could also be tunnel visioned when I am excited about something as a result a lot of well meaning people in my life advised me to find a healthy balance between spirituality and the reality of life I struggled with this concept of balance because I did not understand how to make it work practically. My intention is to go for everything that God has planned for my life, so this concept seemed to mean there are things of God I needed to compromise to find this balance.  It is still a struggle for me to live out this balance but at least now I know that I am struggling with it  because it is not possible to find a happy medium between the spiritual being and the natural being in me. Here is why. Body, Soul and Spirit Humans are made of body, soul and spirit, with the body we perceive the natural realities, with our soul the link between the natural being and the spiritua...
