LIFE LESSON: Practicing religious rituals is not evidence of love for God

WHAT IS RELIGION TEACHING ME? 


Through religion I have always believed that my knowledge and practice of religious rituals completes my love for God. 


WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY:

Religious practices are man- made and will therefore they will not complete my love for God.


In 1 John 2:6 I am taught that when I obey the commands of Jesus Christ and follow his example of how to live life only then does my love for God is made complete.


My love for God is made complete when I obey the teachings of Jesus Christ and follow his example on how to live.


CONCLUSION:

My knowledge and practice of religious rituals does not  complete my love of God but obeying the teachings of Jesus Christ on how to live life makes my love for God complete.

It is a documentary that follows the experiences of people deeply involved in the self-improvement group NXIVM, an organization under siege with charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy brought against its highest members and founder Keith Ranier.  I previously held very harsh views against people who have fallen victims of cults but after watching this documentary I have learnt not to be quick to judge, because the story of the victims in this documentary could have easily been my story. I am a SHEEP who needs a SHEPHERD

When I got frustrated by the failure of my denominational church teachings to provide me with real life solutions to real life problems, I aligned myself with a New Age slogan “Hail to thyself for I am my own master, I am my own God I need no shepherd for I am not a sheep ”. The slogan appealed to me because there was no obvious link between what I was being taught at my denominational church and my daily life experience.This led me to conclude that the God I am searching for on the outside must reside within me, meaning I am my own god. LIFE LESSON: True identity is found through a relationship, not religion
