LIFE LESSON: The supernatural power in you without God leads to distraction

Earlier in my life I came across the practice of meditation which was based on the premise that the superpower we need to achieve anything lies within us. To access this superpower we must dig deeper. This meditation practice was recommended as a  tool to help access this superpower.

I practiced this meditation for some time but it did not bear the expected results for me ,instead I was left feeling very frustrated and inadequate. Sadghuru (an Indian yoga guru and proponent of spirituality very popular on YouTube) through his teachings advocates for this  self-reliance as well instead of relying on an invisible God. In a conversation about Sadghuru I was recently asked  Why do we need God if all the superpower we need is within us?.

Indeed we have within us the superpower to achieve success but accessing it without God leads to distraction here is why.

Spiritual realm vs Natural realm

God is spirit and he exists in the spiritual realm even though all creation in both the spiritual and natural realm is under his authority. We exist in the natural realm, but the spiritual realm has a direct influence on what happens to us in the natural realm. In other words the spiritual realm is superior to the natural realm.

Our bodies are geared up to understand the natural realm but cannot perceive the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm cannot be perceived through the naked eye because it is invisible. Our spirits are geared up to perceive the spiritual realm.

Spiritual realm without God

In the spiritual realm there are other forces that exist and these forces are also under the authority of God but they have rebelled against him. God wants us to spend eternity with him but these forces exist to oppose God and distract us from this destiny.

God wants to protect us from these forces by filling us up with his Spirit so he can protect us from the spiritual forces that have rebelled against him. God’s protection is available to us on condition we accept his authority i..e. Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We have a natural craving that wants independence from God, the consequences of this was demonstrated when Adam & Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. This means this craving does not please God and when we pursue it he gives us our wish but it comes without his protection.

So when we pursue the supernatural power within us without God we open ourselves up to the supernatural forces that do not have our best interest at heart instead because their aim is to distract us away from our destiny which is eternity with God.

Pursuing the supernatural without God leads to distraction because only he knows what is good for us. Jeremiah 29:11
